Ceist:88 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Energy the total value of fuel imported into Ireland in 1991, 1986 and 1981; the countries from where it was exported; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Fuel Imports.
According to published trade statistics from the Central Statistics Office the approximate total value of fuel imports were as follows: 1981 — £919 million; 1986 — £695 million; 1991 — £723 million. Imports of crude oil originated mainly from the Middle East in 1981 and from the North Sea (Norway and UK) in 1986 and 1991. Oil products were primarily from EC countries. Coal products originated for the most part from EC countries, Poland and USA. Imports of LPG were sourced mainly from UK.
