Vol. 424 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Terry Leyden

Ceist:

101 Mr. Leyden asked the Minister for the Environment if he will review the case of a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon who has been refused a £2,000 new house grant on the basis of an inadequate water supply due to the fact that a group water scheme has not been funded by his Department.

It is not possible to indicate when the Fairymount Group Water Scheme, from which the applicant proposed to get a water supply, can be approved having regard to the existing level of commitments under the Water and Sanitary Services Programme. In these circumstances, it is open to the applicant, if he wishes to secure payment of the new house grant, to make alternative arrangements for the provision of a suitable and adequate water supply to the house.
