206 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment if he has sought or obtained figures on the number of applications for local authority housing arising from repossessions and evictions from all local authorities, for the years 1990 and 1991 and up to September, 1992.
Information available to my Department in relation to housing applicants is derived from the statutory assessment of housing needs by housing authorities, the latest of which was carried out at 31 March, 1991. This shows the number of approved applicants for local authority housing by reference to the ten categories set out in section 9 of the Housing Act, 1988, broken down by household size. My Department's annual Housing Statistics Bulletin for 1991 gives the number of applicants in each category for each housing authority and a national breakdown by reference to household size. Applications arising out of repossessions or evictions may be included, as appropriate, in any of a number of the statutory categories but are not identified separately.
