Ceist:79 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education whether a person (details supplied) in County Kildare qualifies for a higher education grant to pursue his studies in UCC; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Kildare County Council is the body statutorily entrusted with the administration of the Higher Education Grants Scheme in this case.
It is understood from the council that the person in question has already received ESF-aided funding in respect of one year spent at another college and that, in accordance with the regulations of the grant scheme, he will not be eligible for further funding until he has completed the first year of his course in UCC.
I refer the Deputy to the Council for any detailed information he may require.
