Vol. 425 No. 7

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy D. Ahern — The situation regarding decentralisation of Revenue staff to Dundalk; (2) Deputy J. O'Keeffe — The fact that 2,000 viewers of community television in west Cork have been blacked out and the future of the service is in danger; (3) Deputy Coughlan — The plight of potato farmers in County Donegal; (4) Deputy Dukes — The need for an environmental impact assessment in relation to the construction of a mast for the Loran C navigation system at Loop Head, County Clare; (5) Deputy Lowry — The manner in which the LEADER Programme has been administered in Tipperary by Tipperary Enterprise Company; (6) Deputy T. Ahearn — The unacceptable delay in the appointment of a district superintendent in the South Tipperary farm development offices; and the consequent and unfair delay in the approval of farm development grant applications; (7) Deputy De Rossa — The need for the Government to provide equity for Aer Lingus; (8) Deputy Gilmore — the case for a new car ferry terminal for Dún Laoghaire port; (9) Deputy Rabbitte — The further delay in the promised start up date for the construction of Tallaght hospital; (10) Deputy Sheehan — The serious situation in Cork south-west whereby thousands of viewers have been denied the privilege of multi-channel viewing by the refusal of the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications to grant a licence to South Coast Community Television; and the steps the Minister proposes to take in the matter; (11) Deputy Hogan and Deputy Cullen — Whether the Minister for the Environment has studied the south-east sub regional programme for Structural Funds and whether finance will be allocated to construct a high level bridge over the River Suir at Waterford in 1993; (12) Deputy Deenihan — If the Minister for Health will make the necessary finance available to the Southern Health Board to appoint a third surgeon at Tralee General Hospital as the surgical waiting list now stands at 1,100, which is one of the highest in the country and (13) Deputy Gregory — The threatened loss of a teacher in Stanhope Street Convent national school, Manor Street in Dublin north inner city which would result in intolerable class sizes in this school, which serves a socially disadvantaged community.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies Hogan and Cullen and Deputy De Rossa and Deputy Sheehan.
