Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - Refund of Drugs Scheme.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

454 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Health if a person (details supplied) in County Limerick is entitled to benefit from the refund of drugs scheme.

The Refund of Drugs Scheme provides for a refund of expenditure by any individual on prescribed drugs and medicines in excess of £90 per calendar quarter. Under the scheme, no person can expect to have to pay more than £90 per quarter or £360 per annum for their prescription medicine.

Administration of the scheme is a matter for the Chief Executive Officer of each Health Board.

I understand that the Mid-Western Health Board has not received an application for a refund under this scheme from the person concerned. I have asked the Health Board to investigate the matter further and to respond directly to the Deputy.
