Ceist:

35 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Finance whether he has received any applications for licences for otter hunting in 1993; if so, if he will give the names of the groups, clubs or individuals from whom such applications, if any, have been received; and if he will ensure that no such licences are issued in 1993.

No applications for licences to hunt otters have been received in 1993.

Should any be received, they will be examined, as provided in the Wildlife Act, 1976, having regard to the conservation status of the species and Ireland's international position in respect of it.

Licences to hunt otters have not been granted since 1989.
