Ceist:

116 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that two courses in Dundalk regional technical college in Business Studies and Bachelor of Science in Building Surveying have been validated by the National Council for Educational Awards and that all that is now required to allow them to commence is sanction from her Department; if she will authorise this as soon as possible so that they may commence in September 1993; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

New course proposals from the regional technical college, Dundalk, will be considered in the context of the programmes and budget which, under the terms of the Regional Technical Colleges Act, 1992, are to be submitted before 1 May. These proposals and proposals from other regional technical colleges and the Dublin Institute of Technology will be considered having regard to policy and available resources.
