18 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Social Welfare when he will give a response to the request from the Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed for funding for its welfare rights advice programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
In 1992, the Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed received a special, once-off grant of £15,000, from my Department's budget allocation for special grants, towards the employment of a resource worker to co-ordinate the provision of advice and information to the unemployed.
The INOU has applied for a further grant for this purpose in 1993. The application will be considered in the context of the 1993 budget allocation for special grants to voluntary organisations.
