55 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Finance if he will arrange for the circulation to each member of Dáil Éireann of a copy of his speech introducing the forthcoming budget; and if circulation might take place at the commencement of his speech with a proviso that this shall be treated as confidential until he has concluded his financial statement.
Traditionally, the Financial Statement is distributed to a restricted number of people in advance of its presentation to this House. Those in receipt include Government Ministers and Ministers of State, former Ministers and Ministers of State, Opposition Leaders and Finance spokesmen. I do not propose to break with this tradition this year.
In accordance with normal practice, supplies of the budget documentation will be provided to the Dáil General Office for distribution to Members of the Oireachtas after the conclusion of the statement.
