Note: There is a discontinuity in the series because of revised statistical coverage from May 1992.
In order to highlight the drastic unemployment position will the Minister give the figures for the towns of Cahir and Carrick-on-Suir?
I am pleased to tell the Deputy that the figures dropped in the past five months by 0.3 per cent. I do not have specific figures for these towns. Up to January 1993, the figure for Cahir was 1,007.
That figure represents an unemployment percentage of 35 per cent. What does the Minister propose to do to reduce that drastic unemployment situation in Cahir?
I am anxious to facilitate the Deputy in eliciting information but she is now entering into the area of policy which requires a separate question. This is essentially a statistical question.
It is not a statistical answer.
