Dail Reform: Motion.

I move:

That, notwithstanding anything contained in Standing Orders, in the case of statements on Dáil reform which shall be made on Thursday, 18th February and Friday, 19th February, 1993, the following arrangements shall apply:

(1) general statement on Dáil reform shall be made on Thursday, 18th February in accordance with the following timetable and the statements shall not exceed the time specified:

Fine Gael Whip

15 minutes

Progressive Democrats Whip

15 minutes

Technical Group Whip

15 minutes

Labour Party Whip

15 minutes

(2) on the conclusion of the general statements provided for in paragraph (1) above, statements shall be made on the proposed legislative committees to conclude not later than 2.30 p.m. on Thursday, 18th February, 1993;

(3) a general questions and answers session shall be held until not later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, 18th February, 1993;

(4) statement shall be made on sub judice to conclude not later than 6 p.m. on Thursday, 18th February, 1993;

(5) statements shall be made on the register of members' interests on Friday, 19th February, 1993, to conclude not later than 2 p.m.;

(6) a questions and answers session on the register of Members' interests shall be held until not later than 2.30 p.m. on Friday, 19th February, 1993;

(7) statements shall be made on general procedure (including sitting arrangements, topical matters, debates, question time and private Members' Bills) to conclude not later than 3.20 p.m. on Friday, 19th February, 1993;

(8) concluding statements shall be made until not later than 4 p.m. on Friday, 19th February, 1993, in accordance with the following timetable and the statements shall not exceed the time specified:

(9) unless otherwise specified, statements shall not exceed ten minutes and shall alternate between Government and Opposition speakers;

(10) Members may share time;

(11) Members may make more than one statement; and

(12) the Party Whips may nominate another Member to make a statement in their stead.
