Ceist:273 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the quantity of paper used, the quantity of recycled paper used and the quantities of post-consumer paper recycled by his Department.

The annual demand for paper in my Department is approximately 12,000 reams, most of which is supplied by the Government Supplies Agency. The composition of the paper is a matter for that agency. I am however advised that usage of recycled paper is limited due to it being generally unsuitable for photocopying and printing purposes.
Quantities of post-consumer paper are regularly collected from my Department for recycling. It is not possible to determine with any accuracy the amounts so collected.
