Ceist:

275 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the policy changes, if any, which underpin the increases or decreases in the subheads in Votes controlled by his Department; and if he will make a statement on whether increased or reduced services will be provided by his Department in 1993.

The following is the information required:

Subhead B.7— Bord na Móna — Grants for Private Bog Development.

1992 Outturn, £275,000;

1993 Estimate, £1,000.

The private bog development grant scheme was terminated with effect from 13 October 1987. Funds were provided in following years to allow Bord na Móna to discharge its liabilities under the scheme. The 1993 estimate includes a token provision to cater for any payments that may fall due in the current year.

Subhead D.9— Special Promotion Measure for Shannon Airport. (new subhead).

1993 Estimate, £500,000.

As part of the Government's decision of 27 October 1992 reaffirming Shannon Airport's role as transatlantic gateway for scheduled services and its commitment to make Shannon a major aviation centre, a special Traffic Development Task Force is being set up with a budget of £1 million over the next two years.
