Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - Road Grant Allocations.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

49 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for the Environment the budget available for the repair of national secondary roads in 1993 and the corresponding figure for 1992; and whether funds are being allocated for the N62 between Kilmore and Coolagh, County Galway.

The total provision for maintenance works on national primary and national secondary roads in 1993 is £20.7 million, the same as in 1992. A sum of £8.911 million was assigned to national secondary roads in 1992. The corresponding amount for 1993, and the apportionment among local authorities, will be determined as soon as possible in the context of this year's road grant allocations. The programme of maintenance works to be carried out on national roads in their area is primarily a matter for the local authority concerned.
