Vol. 426 No. 5

Written Answers. - Living Alone Allowance.

John Bruton

Ceist:

88 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will extend the living alone allowance available to Irish pensioners to British pensioners living in Ireland.

The living alone allowance is an increase in pension payable to social welfare pensioners who are over age 66 and are living on their own. It is an integral part of the overall pension payable in those cases.

Any extension to the scheme would have cost implications and would have to be considered in a budgetary context.
