Vol. 426 No. 6

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Medical Cover.

John Mulvihill

Ceist:

54 Mr. Mulvihill asked the Minister for Defence if he intends to extend the medical cover already available to commissioned officers in the Defence Forces to non-commissioned personnel; and if so, when.

Defence Force personnel who require medical attention normally receive treatment in military hospitals or Medical Aid Posts within barracks at this Department's expense.

Similar treatment is afforded by the Army Medical Corps to all personnel whether they are officers or enlisted personnel.

Facilities within the civilian health care system are availed of for all personnel in cases where the necessary treatment is outside the scope of the Army Medical Corps.
