Ceist:237 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) will be called for a heart by-pass operation.
Written Answers. - Heart Surgery.
The Deputy will be aware that this patient's name is on the waiting list for surgery at the National Cardiac Surgery Centre, Mater Hospital, Dublin, but the hospital is not in a position to give a precise admission date at this time.
The scheduling of admission to hospital is a matter for the consultant concerned and every patient is assessed to determine their medical priority. Should the patient be concerned about his condition, I would advise him to return to his general practitioner who is in the best position to emphasise the urgency of his case directly to the consultant.
