Ceist:114 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for the Environment if grants or subsidies are available through his Department to any private contractor involved in the recycling of domestic and commercial waste.

Wexford): Limited capital grant assistance for recycling has been available from my Department over the past four years, mainly for small scale projects undertaken by private operators in relation to collection of municipal waste. Some £400,000 has been provided for recycling grants in this year's Estimates. I will decide shortly on the activities to be subsidised by these grants in 1993.
