Vol. 427 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Limerick Public Lighting.

Michael Finucane

Ceist:

160 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the inadequate public lighting on the N69 route at Kildimo and Foynes, County Limerick and the heavy volume of traffic using this road; if he will authorise the replacement of the existing lights; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In July 1992, Limerick County Council submitted proposals to extend and upgrade the public lighting through all the towns and villages on National Secondary route N69, including Foynes and Kildimo. My Department examined these proposals and, on 15 July 1992, requested information from the local authority in relation to traffic and pedestrian counts, and records of night-time pedestrian accidents at each location. This information has not yet been received from the local authority. On receipt of the information, the proposals, including those for Foynes and Kildimo, will receive further consideration.
