Written Answers. - Permanent Defence Force Payments.

Ceist:

184 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence the payments, excluding pay and MSA which were paid to PDF officers attached to reserve units in 1991; and the number of officers who received these payments.

Payments totalling approximately £796,000 in respect of FCA allowances were paid to approximately 150 Permanent Defence Force officers attached to Reserve units in 1991.

185 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence the payments, excluding pay and MSA which were made to NCOs and men of PDF attached to reserve units in 1991; and the number who received these payments.

A total amount of £1,086,000 was paid in FCA allowances to approximately 600 NCOs and Privates of the Permanent Defence Force attached to reserve units in 1991.

186 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence the allowances, apart from pay and MSA, which the PDF staff attached to Reserve Force HQ and each Command FCA HQs received in 1991 and 1992; and if he will give details of the average annual allowances and mileage payments, by rank, for officers involved.

In 1991 and 1992 Permanent Defence Force officers attached to Reserve Force Headquarters and each Command FCA Headquarters and filling certain specified appointments were paid motor car allowances and a special daily allowance.

The average annual allowances for the officers concerned were as follows:
