Edward Nealon
Ceist:201 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Marine if his attention has been drawn to the facts that major structural damage has been caused to Cloonagh Pier, Maugherow, County Sligo by the storms in January 1993, that there is a danger of the pier disintegrating unless repair and reconstruction work is carried out, that severe damage will be done to the livelihoods of local fishermen if the pier were unusable; and if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that the Cloonagh Pier is of major historical interest because of its former use by the Inismurray Islanders and also because of its association with the poems of Eva Gore-Booth; and if in view of all these considerations, he will ensure that immediate action is taken to start the necessary works to protect the pier and safeguard it against future storms.
