Vol. 427 No. 6

Written Answers. - Teagasc Research Centre.

Colm M. Hilliard

Ceist:

214 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if there will be any reduction in the grant-in-aid for general expenses for the Teagasc Research Centre at Grange, County Meath; the amount of their allocation in 1992; and the amount in 1993.

The grant-in-aid for general expenses to Teagasc in 1992 was £30.918 million. In addition, a once-off sum of £4 million was provided in 1992 under the Teagasc Efficiency Plan towards the reduction of the core debt.

A grant-in-aid of £31.4 million for general expenses was provided in the 1993 Estimates. A further £1 million was provided in the 1993 budget to fund the extension of the Small Farm Development Programme.

The allocation of resources to individual Teagasc centres is a matter for the body itself.
