Ceist:252 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he has received representations regarding the ferry service to Inis Meáin, Aran Islands, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Aran Islands Ferry Service.
I understand that the new cargo/passenger ferry service being provided between Galway and Aran Islands including Inis Meáin is operating satisfactorily. A Monitoring Committee under the chairmanship of my Department and comprising representatives from the Departments of the Marine, Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht as well as representatives from the three islands and the relevant ferry operator has been established to monitor the service. Representations and views concerning the provision and operation of the cargo/passenger ferry service to the islands including Inis Meáin are received from time to time by the Monitoring Committee and by my Department.
