Ceist:84 Mr. Browne (Carlow/Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Social Welfare the grade of each civil servant appointed as a special adviser in his Department; and the number of appointments made to fill the vacant grades concerned.

One higher executive officer has been appointed as a special adviser in my Department. The officer concerned has been my special adviser for a number of years and his replacement would have been a matter for his parent department at that time.
