Vol. 427 No. 7

Written Answers. - Proposed Dublin Private Hospital.

Michael McDowell

Ceist:

58 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Health his views on the plans by consultants at Beaumont hospital to build a 100 bed private hospital adjacent to the public facility.

I understand that proposals for the provision of a private-semi-private in-patient facility on the Beaumont Hospital Campus are still in the early stages and discussion between the authorities at Beaumont Hospital and the Beaumont Private Clinic Company Limited. I understand that estimated costs have yet to be prepared and possible sites have yet to be examined.

While the proposed development is not a matter in which I have any direct involvement at this time, my Department is being kept informed of developments at all stages. Under the relevant Statutory Instrument any agreement of this nature must obtain the approval of the Minister for Health.
