Vol. 427 No. 8

Written Answers. - Celbridge (Kildare) School.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

226 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if she has had any recent discussions with Kildare vocational education committee or the authorities at St. Wolstan's Holy Faith Secondary School, Celbridge, County Kildare with a view to getting agreement regarding replacement facilities for St. Wolstan's; her views on whether progress in this case is desirable in view of the overcrowded situation at present; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I have had no discussions with County Kildare Vocational Education Committee or the authorities at St. Wolstan's Holy Faith Secondary School, Celbridge concerning any aspect of the future provision of postprimary facilities in Celbridge.

The current position regarding the future provision of postprimary facilities in Celbridge, is set out in my reply to parliamentary Question No. 520 of 10 February 1993 put down by Deputy Durkan.

It is, of course, desirable that progress be made on this matter, particularly in the light of the announcement by the Holy Faith Sisters of their intention to withdraw from management of their school in 1997.
