I propose to take Questions Nos. 15, 23, 28, 40, 82, 88, 96 and 119 together.

In August 1992, proposals were invited by public advertisement from development consortia for the provision of a site and for the design, construction, financing and management of a national 50-metre swimming pool complex. A brief for the project was issued on 2 October, 1992 to the 25 consortia who responded to the advertisement.

Following representations from the Construction Industry Council in relation to the competition conditions, the Department agreed that a number of consortia should be shortlisted and invited to submit detailed proposals including designs, based on the project brief. A questionnaire was issued to all consortia to enable the shortlisting process to be completed.
Twelve consortia responded to the questionnaire by the closing date of 18 December, 1992 and these submissions are under consideration by my Department.
It would not be feasible at this early stage to say when construction might commence. It is not envisaged that construction would commence in 1993 and accordingly no provision has been made in the financial Estimates for 1993.
