Vol. 428 No. 2

Written Answers. - Agriculture House.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

93 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance when the State purchased Agriculture House, Kildare Street, Dublin 2; the cost and the names of the vendors; the costs of the recent repairs to the defects in the building; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Commissioners of Public Works purchased Agriculture House in November 1986 from Irish Life Assurance plc. While it is not the practice to divulge details of commercial transactions with other parties, I can advise the Deputy that the cost of acquisition was in the region of £7.9 million. It is estimated that the cost of remedial works, which are currently in progress, will be of the order of £900,000.
