Ceist:24 Mr. McGahon asked the Minister for Justice the cost of security for the Sinn Féin conference held in the town hall, Dundalk, on 20 and 21 February 1993; and the cost of protecting the town hall for this conference.

It would be contrary to long established practice to disclose information about the costs associated with any particular policing operation where that information could be used to quantify the number of Garda personnel involved. I should say that the Garda role on the occasion referred to in the question was essentially concerned with normal policing rather than protection.
