Vol. 429 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

185 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is entitled to a cattle headage payment.

The number of animals on which the person named applied for headage grants does not match the number of animals in his herd according to the Department's veterinary records. Further investigation is necessary before a decision can be made on whether or not he is eligible for grants.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

186 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the non-payment of a ewe premium under the 1988 scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The closing date for receipt of applications under the 1988 ewe premium scheme was 16 March 1989. As an application from the person named was not received until 29 March 1993 he was not entitled to payment of any premium. He has never produced a certificate of postage indicating that the application was posted on time.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

187 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in making payments of headage grants to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person named obtained grants to which he was not entitled because of his spouse's off-farm income in the years 1983 to 1986. His 1992 grants under cattle and equines headage, suckler cow and special beef premium schemes are being withheld and offset against the overpayment. After offsetting of the 1992 grants a balance of £324.31 will still be owed to the Department.

Liam Burke

Ceist:

188 Mr. L. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in the payment of beef subsidy grant for 90 cattle to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and when payment will be issued.

The application of the person named for grants under the 1992 special beef premium scheme was rejected by computer at validation stage. The error is being dealt with at present and when it is resolved the application will be processed further and if found in order payment will be made.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

189 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason beef cow and beef premium grants have not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The application of the person named for grants under the 1992 suckler cow premium, special beef premium and beef cow schemes were rejected by computer at validation stage. The errors are being dealt with at present and when they are resolved the applications will be processed further and if found in order payments will be made.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

190 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid a reactor grant; and the amount due to him under this scheme.

Reactor grants, amounting to £1,700 due to the person named have been paid.

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

191 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when an application for a beef subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
