Ceist:74 Ms. F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Finance the amount of VAT collected in each of the years 1990 to 1992, from newspapers, both national and provincial but excluding periodicals.

VAT returns are not completed in a manner which would enable the yield from particular goods or services to be identified. From available non-Revenue data, the following are broad estimates of VAT yield for the years in question: 1990, £17 million; 1991, £16 million and 1992 £17 million.
