Ceist:35 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if he intends to establish an equality commission, as recommended in the report of the Second Commission on the Status of Women.

I am at present examining the possibility of expanding the role of the Employment Equality Agency to cover equality and status issues generally.
A final decision will be taken in advance of the publication of equal status legislation in the autumn.
