100 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if she has received a request from St. Mary's College, Naas, County Kildare, for grant assistance towards equipment for a new sports hall; if she has considered all aspects of the application with a view to determination of eligibility; if she is prepared to offer grant assistance in the current year or thereafter; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
My Department has received a request from the Board of Management of St. Mary's College and a reply has issued indicating that as the hall was erected without any prior agreement with my Department on grant aid, any assistance at this stage would be in the nature of a retrospective grant. In view of the many other demands on the resources available, my Department is not in a position to approve a grant for the provision of equipment for the sports hall.
