Ceist:140 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay in the registration of land transfer of a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the dealing in question was originally lodged in the Land Registry on 10 December 1984 but that it was not in order, was rejected and returned to the applicant's solicitor on 18 December 1984. It was relodged on 17 December 1992.
Due to the pressure of work in the Land Registry generally finalisation of an application of the kind in question here would, in the ordinary way, take some further months. However, it is the policy of the Land Registry, in so far as possible, to expedite cases of special urgency. Any such cases will be specially considered if details of the reasons for urgency are submitted to the Registrar of Titles.
