Ceist:

124 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will give details of the timescale involved in drafting national legislation to give effect to Directive 90/667/EEC of 27 November 1990, in view of the possible losses to farmers involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Work on the transposition of the Directive into national law is under way with a view to its introduction at the earliest possible date.
