Vol. 430 No. 5

Written Answers. - Revenue Returns.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

127 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if he has satisfied himself that revenue returns are likely to meet projections in respect of the first six months of 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I indicated in my press statement which accompanied the release of the first-quarter Exchequer Returns, the trend in tax revenue to end-March 1993 was well up to expectations. The revenue flow in April remained satisfactory, and given that the reductions in interest rates which followed the budget should be of benefit to economic activity, I have no reason to believe that the first-half tax returns will not continue to perform in line with the overall budget targets.
