Ceist:61 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance whether he will make available an annual report on all the expenditure of lottery funds by various Government Departments and Agencies.
Written Answers. - National Lottery Funds.
While I have overall responsibility for the holding of the national lottery, responsibility for the allocation of lottery funds is assigned to the Government. Decisions on allocations to the different spending Departments are taken in the course of setting the annual Estimates.
Once the Government has decided on the allocation of funds on a departmental basis, responsibility for the distribution of these funds and for accounting for such distribution rests with the spending Ministers concerned — who can be and frequently are questioned in this House in regard to such distribution.
Perhaps the Deputy will be aware that most Departments publish a detailed schedule of lottery grants with their annual Appropriation Accounts and I will take this opportunity to remind those Departments that no longer do so that such a schedule should be included in future.
