Ceist:

95 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Marine if he will give the name of each organisation that submitted proposals or was consulted by his Department in relation to the preparation of plans to be submitted to the European Community for Structural Fund assistance; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A wide range of organisations, groups and individuals submitted proposals for consideration in the context of the preparation of investment programmes in the marine sector for EC Structural and Cohesion Funds and extensive consultations took place.

Submissions were also received, through the Department of Finance, from the Sub-Regional Review Committees and the social partners.

A large number of submissions were received from organisations with proposals for the development of commercial ports including submissions from all the major harbour authorities. A programme of investment for the fisheries sector was prepared following extensive consultation with Bord Iascaigh Mhara, in particular. The research programme was prepared in consultation with the Marine Institute. In advance of the preparation of proposals for fishery harbours and coast protection, the Department of the Marine sought the views of the coastal local authorities. The Central and Regional Fishery Boards were fully involved in the preparation of proposals for the development of inland fisheries.
