Vol. 430 No. 8

Written Answers. - Annual Reports Publication.

Jim O'Keeffe

Ceist:

124 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Social Welfare if, in respect of each semi-State or other body submitting an annual report to his Department, he will give details of the dates on which the 1991 and 1992 annual reports were received by him and laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas.

There are two semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department which submit annual reports to me. These are the Pensions Board and the Combat Poverty Agency.

Under the provisions of the Pensions Act, 1990, and the Combat Poverty Agency Act, 1986, both bodies are required to submit their annual reports to me not later than 6 months from the end of its financial year. I, in turn, am required to have copies laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas.

In relation to the Pensions Board their 1991 annual report was presented to my predecessor on 28 May 1992 and laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas on 9 July 1992. The 1992 annual report was presented to me on 7 May 1993 and laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas on 12 May 1993.

The 1991 annual report of the Combat Poverty Agency was presented to my predecessor on 12 May 1992 and laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas on 19 May 1992. The 1992 annual report is being finalised by the Combat Poverty Agency at present and I expect to receive it shortly.
