93 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Defence the number of officers and other ranks who attended training courses abroad during 1991 and 1992; the countries in which each course was held; the nature of the courses involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
In 1991, 48 officers and 28 other ranks personnel of the Permanent Defence Force attended a total of 24 training courses in Britain, Finland, Italy and the USA. In 1992, 21 such courses were attended by 29 officers and 5 other ranks in Britain, France, Germany, Italy and the USA. The topics covered in these courses include tactical training, pilot conversion training and aircraft and equipment maintenance.
