Vol. 431 No. 6

Written Answers. - Shortage of Primary School Places.

Frances Fitzgerald

Ceist:

153 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that there is a severe shortage of primary school places in the Ranelagh/Rathmines/Donnybrook area of Dublin which is apparent from the fact that parents of children who were placed on waiting lists three years ago at the time of their births have now been informed by the school authorities that they will not be offered a place in 1994; and the steps, if any, she intends to take to remedy the situation.

I am not aware that primary schools in Ranlagh/Rathmines/Donnybrook area of Dublin will refuse to accept some pupils in 1994 because of a shortage of pupil places. If the Deputy provides details of the pupils and schools in question I will have the matter investigated.
