Máirín Quill

24 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if he will ensure that sufficient funds are allocated to the AIM Group for Family Law Reform to enable them to continue their work with persons experiencing marital difficulties; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Liz McManus

Ceist:

111 Ms. McManus asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform when he intends to provide funding for the AIM Mediation Service; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

115 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if he has received a submission from AIM seeking funding for their organisation and services; if he intends to approve a grant; the amount of any such grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 24, 111 and 115 together.

I had the pleasure of meeting with some members of the AIM group in March of this year when they advised me of their situation. In recent years AIM have received an annual grant of £3,500 from the Eastern Health Board. In addition, the Department of Health have made grants, totalling £15,000, available to them. I am aware that they have also applied for a grant under the scheme of grants to voluntary bodies which is operated by the Department of Health and that my colleague, the Minister for Health, is at present considering their application. I will have consultations with him on the application.

I regret that at present I have no funds at my disposal which could be given to this group or to other groups by way of grant or otherwise.
