42 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Finance the amount used for current Government expenditure and the day-today running of the country as against the amount used for the Public Capital Programme in each of the years from 1988 to 1992 and to date in 1993.

* As detailed above, Public Capital Programme spending is comprised of both Exchequer funded and non-Exchequer funded expenditure. A total of £944 million of the Exchequer-funded element of the 1993 PCP relates to voted capital services of which £191 million issued up to end-March of this year. This represents 21 per cent of the 1993 voted capital provision and indicates that Exchequer funded capital spending is broadly on target. Non-Exchequer funded PCP spending is monitored on annual basis for Budget Book purposes and, as such it is not possible to estimate first quarter issues in this regard.
