90 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he has satisfied himself that the legislation in relation to the prevention of cruelty to animals is operating effectively; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The question of cruelty to animals is governed by the Protection of Animals Acts, 1911 and 1965. The enforcement of this legislation is a matter for the Garda Síochána.
