Vol. 431 No. 7

Written Answers - Departmental Review.

Ceist:

64 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for the Marine if, having regard to his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 62 of 26 May 1993, he will give details of when the review of the matter in question is likely to be completed; the ranks and sections of officials to whom this matter was first referred; if, having regard to the ranks and sections of officials involved, he will give details of the administrative history and progress of this matter to date; the point at which the review of the matter has presently reached; if, having regard to commercial reality, he will suggest a practical recourse vis-á-vis making a living by the party concerned while his Department continues to review this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As stated in my answer to Parliamentary Question No. 62 the case referred to is at present being examined in the Department of the Marine. It is expected that the review will be completed by the middle of June.

It is not accepted that the initial decision taken in this case, or the time to be taken to review this decision, will in any way unfairly affect the person's ability to earn a livelihood.

I will communicate directly with the Deputy in relation to the administrative aspects of the case.
