Vol. 431 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

109 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will expedite payment of a beef premium to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; the present position on this application; and when payment will be made.

The application of the person named for grants under the June 1992 special beef premium scheme was rejected when subjected to a computer validation check because one of the tag numbers was invalid. The problem has now been resolved and payment will be made shortly.

The application of the person named for grants under the December 1992 special beef premium scheme is being processed at present and, if found in order, payment will be made as soon as possible.

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

110 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a farm development grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I expect that this grant will be paid within the next two weeks.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

111 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a decision has been made on the application for a sheep quota of a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The relevant EC Regulations provide for ewe premium quotas to be based on the number of ewes on which a producer was paid the premium in 1991 provided that the producer also applied for the premium in 1992.

The person is not entitled to a quota because he did not apply for premium in 1991. However, the EC Regulations also provide for the establishment of a national reserve for the disadvantaged areas for allocation to certain categories of producers. My Department will be announcing the criteria for the allocation of these reserves in the next few weeks. The person named can then submit an application along with supporting documentation for reserve quota to my Department at Michael Davitt House, Castlebar.

Ceist:

112 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a person (details supplied) in County Kerry is entitled to an increased sheep quota.

The relevant EC Regulations provide for ewe premium quotas to be based on the number of ewes on which a producer was paid premium in 1991, provided that the producer also applied for the premium in 1992.

The person named meets both of these conditions and has been granted a quota of 20 full premium rights based on the number of ewes on which he was paid premium in 1991.

The EC Regulations also provide for the establishment of a national reserve and a special reserve for the disadvantaged areas for allocation to certain categories of producers. My Department will be announcing the criteria for the allocation of these reserves in the next few weeks. The person named can then submit an application along with supporting documentation for reserve quota to my Department at Michael Davitt House, Castlebar.
