Vol. 433 No. 1

Written Answers. - Services for People with HIV/AIDS.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

247 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Health the level of service which is available for HIV positive and AIDS sufferers in the Western Health Board area; the proposals, if any, he has to increase the level of facility available; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Comprehensive services for people with AIDS and those who are HIV positive are provided on a co-ordinated basis at various levels, both institutional and community based, by the Western Health Board in co-operation with a number of voluntary groups. An AIDS monitoring committee representing statutory and non-statutory agencies in the Western Health Board area has also been established to advise on the provision of appropriate services for people with HIV/AIDS. My Department liaises on a regular basis with each health board to ensure that demands for services for people in this category are met in the most efficient and comprehensive manner and having regard to the level of resources available.
