Vol. 433 No. 2

Written Answers. - Structural Funds.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

45 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance the percentage of EC Structural Funds available to the Dublin region from the current distribution of Structural Funds; the percentage breakdown that each region has received from EC Structural Funds; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The latest detailed sub-regional breakdown of expenditure of Structural Funds, which was produced in November 1992 by my Department estimates that Dublin will receive £742.6 million or 23.3 per cent of the total amount of Structural Funds available to the seven sub-regions (£3,190.5 million) over the period 1989-93. The breakdown for the other six sub-regions is shown in the following table.

The Deputy should note, however, that Structural Funds are not allocated on a sub-regional basis but rather through national sectoral programmes, such as the Operational Programme for Peripherality.
