Written Answers. - Drogheda (Louth) Garda Station.

Ceist:

58 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Justice if she will proceed with the building of the new Garda station on the Corporation Murdock Site; if work will commence in 1993 or 1994; her views on the fact that it is listed as a high priority with her Department; if planning permission will be required from Drogheda Corporation; if so, if the Office of Public Works will be instructed to proceed with the application without delay; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

As I stated in my reply to Question No. 81 on 10 March 1993 it is proposed to build a new District Headquarters at Drogheda on the Murdock Yard site.

I understand that the Office of Public Works are consulting with Drogheda Corporation at present about the planning requirements for this project, and I expect that a contract will be placed before the end of 1993.
